Behind the Scenes of my Upcoming Book Launch: The Hustle Trap
Why I'm breaking up with content calendars (and what I'm doing instead)
Since Substack is a writer's paradise, I figured I'd give you a glimpse behind the process of how I'm navigating my upcoming book launch.
[We are just under 50 days away—but who’s counting—ME!]
This week, I identified a major hustle trap: content calendars.
I've tried for the past four months to create a content calendar, to no avail. I work so hard on them, but I never implement them consistently—something never feels right. My AuDHD brain always wants to divert course. So this week, I realized that I wasn't the problem—the rigid system that works for so many was. I need to write a newsletter from the heart and create any subsequent content from there.

The ultimate fate of every content calendar I’ve ever created
Here's my new approach
I pay attention to what comes up in my nervous system and stay willing to adjust course. Rather than forcing a rigid schedule, I have a gracious plan: each week I'll introduce one of the main concepts from my book—Hustle, Flow, or Let It Go—and show how we can use these frameworks to navigate the times we're living in.
This week's newsletter (going out Tuesday) is about the compassion that helps me navigate struggles like these. Writing an open-hearted newsletter after tearing apart every draft for hours isn't easy, but it's authentic.
Why I'm sharing this on Substack
This platform lets me connect with fellow writers and readers who appreciate the messy, real process behind the polished content. Plus, it helps new people discover my work when they're searching for honest takes on shame-free, inclusive wellness.
My plan is simple: each week I want to show up and talk about how "Hustle, Flow, or Let It Go" is showing up in my life. That’s how I’m getting out of the Hustle Trap this week, anyhow! We'll see how it goes!

I wrote about my Humpty Dumpty moment - when my hustle shattered and why compassion became critical.
"I finally had to admit that the pace I was accustomed to was destroying me. I not only had mastered the art of the hustle--I thrived within it.
But something in my body was rejecting it, like an overdrawn bank account. Insufficient funds.
I had decimated my capacity, trying to do the right thing.
My hustle had fallen off the wall like Humpty Dumpty. Shattered. Not coming back together.
It was through moments like these that I truly understood the profound need for compassion..."
All the kings horses and all the kings men.. couldn’t put my hustle back together again…
I wouldn’t leave you hanging like that. You deserve SO much more…
